High alumina bricks are usually classified into three main grades based on the Al₂O₃ content, which is the primary criterion for judging their performance and applicable scenarios
Grade 1 high alumina bricks with AL2O3 content of ≥75% have the best performance, the highest refractoriness and load-softening temperature, and are suitable for critical parts with ultra-high temperatures
Grade 2 high alumina bricks, with AL2O3 content of 60% to 75%, have a balanced overall performance and high cost performance. They are the most widely used grade in industrial furnaces and kilns
Grade three high alumina bricks, with AL2O3 content 48% to 60% of their performance close to that of clay bricks, have a slightly higher refractoriness and are suitable for medium and high-temperature non-critical areas
