Refractroy Mullite Insulation Fire Brick For Industrial Furnace Insulation
Mullite insulation bricks are a type of high-alumina refractory material with mullite as the main crystal phase. The bulk density of this lightweight insulation brick ranges from 0.60 to 1.25 grams per cubic centimeter. Its working temperature range is between 1300°C and 1600°C. The refractoriness of mullite insulation bricks is relatively high, reaching above 1790°C. The softening onset temperature is between 1600 and 1700°C. It has good thermal shock resistance, insulation and heat preservation performance, and structural strength. It is an ideal insulation choice for industrial kilns, thermal equipment and other high-temperature environments.
Description
Overview of Mullite insulating bricks
Mullite insulating bricks are a type of high-alumina refractory material with mullite as the main crystal phase. They feature low thermal conductivity, low heat capacity, and high-temperature resistance, and are widely used as linings in industrial kilns.

Core definition and composition of mullite insulation bricks
Mullite insulation bricks are high-alumina refractory materials with mullite (3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂) as the main crystal phase. The alumina content is usually 65% to 75%, and a small amount of clay or raw kaolin is used as a binder 13. In addition to mullite, the mineral composition of these bricks also includes glass phase and quartz in low-alumina products, and a small amount of corundum in high-alumina products.

Classification and Key Parameters
By density: classified as lightweight (0.8/1.0/1.2 g/cm³), heavy-duty. The thermal conductivity of lightweight bricks ranges from 0.25 to 0.35 W/m·K (at 350℃), while heavy-duty bricks have higher compressive strength.
By operating temperature: divided into 1350℃, 1450℃, and above 1550℃. Models above 1550℃ are suitable for ultra-high temperature scenarios such as kilns.
By production process: classified as fired bricks and electrofused bricks. Electrofused bricks have larger crystals and superior thermal shock resistance compared to fired bricks.
Core characteristics of mullite insulation bricks
Heat insulation and energy saving: Low thermal conductivity and low heat melting, significant energy-saving effect in intermittent operation kilns.
High temperature stability: Fire resistance up to over 1790℃, softening point under load 1450-1700℃, resistant to chemical erosion.
Construction-friendly: Precise dimensions, can be processed into special shapes, reducing joint and refractory mortar usage.

Typical application scenarios of mullite insulation bricks
They can be directly used as the inner lining of high-temperature kilns, such as ceramic belt kilns, petrochemical cracking furnaces, glass melting kilns, and steel heat treatment furnaces, etc. .
